Few companies in Australia can do what Complete Structural Solutions does. We offer solutions in intricate construction and complex engineering, combined with attention to detail and high standards of quality.
Complete Structural Solutions solves problems across structural strengthening, carbon fibre strengthening, concrete investigation & remediation, crack injection and epoxy wedging. Browse our projects below for a showcase of our capabilities.
When David Jones vacated Toowong Shopping Centre, one of the floors was getting fitted out as a Woolworths. As such there was 100mm topping slab across the back of house area. Shown above is the structural strengthening utilised for the existing slab to bear the additional loads. Complete Structural Solutions were engaged by principal contractor BUILT to complete the structural strengthening scope for the project.
Beams were strengthened flexurally by applying 2 layers of 1.4mm carbon fibre laminates. Beam shear resistance was increased with the use of N20 shear bars with heavy washer plates. During this project, some cracking was uncovered and required to be injected. We took this on as part of our scope and ensured that we kept on top of timeline regardless of an increased scope.
The old concrete Water tanks for the fire suppression system at a Brisbane Correctional Facility had severely degraded. Complete Structural Solutions undertook the works of disconnecting the fire suppression system from the tank supply while keeping it operable during the works, demolition and safe removal of existing concrete tanks, excavation of subgrade, construction of the high load bearing concrete slab, installation of new 60kL steel tanks and re-commissioning of the system.
Due to the incorporation of travelators on this project, some sections of the structure needed strengthening to adjust to the change in loading conditions with the post tensioned slab being cut out. Installation of PT wedges and large scale concrete repairs were also added to our scope.
Structural strengthening of multiple floors of the structure using carbon fibre laminates and unidirectional carbon fibre wrap, due to a shift in the structures loading conditions. Crack injection was also required on this project.
The strengthening of this structure was undertaken by CSS and executed with the externally bonded Sika Carbodur S1214, bonded to the concrete substrate using Sikadur 30. This applied to surface and soffit of the B1 car park slab. This became an issue for the surface due to traffic.
We came up with the idea of recessing the strips into the concrete, casting an epoxy over the recess and then sand-seeding for grip. This design also included the incorporation of shear bolts around the column heads. The design for this was Sika Carbodur BC12 – carbon fiber rod, drilled and epoxied within the full depth of concrete.
Concept design of the infill of a leisure centre pool required doweled in core filled blockwork with bondek spanning between equal angles. CSS’ scope then expanded to complete the construction of concrete ramps and then further awarded the roof extension.
